One Year Pictures!

While in Eau Claire this weekend, I took Mya in for her 1 year pictures!  She did so well and had fun!  I brought along a cupcake for her and it ended up being my favorite part!  I've given Mya frosting before from cake and she gagged, so I wondered what would happen.  Well, Mya dug into that cupcake and enjoyed it!  :)

Road Trip!

We packed up the family roadster and headed down south toward Milwaukee this past weekend for Aidan's baptism.

Mya did pretty well on the trip down, considering it was a 3.5 hour trip!  She slept for about an hour, woke up a little crabby and then we stopped for lunch.  We kept her entertained with books and toys.  She then fell asleep again, thank goodness!

Mya met Michael and Jennie's dog Roxie.  She's been around dogs before, but none this little.  She liked her at first, but then wasn't so sure!

The baptism was on Sunday and Greg and I were thrilled to be asked to be Aidan's godparents, along with Emily and Scott!

Mya liked Aidan, or maybe she liked his toys!  She loves other kids, so it was a good thing!

We even got in a family photo before the baptism!  It is virtually impossible to get Mya's attention AND get her to smile at the camera now!

Well, maybe sometimes we can get her attention!  I'm pretty sure Greg was waving a toy around in order to get a smile out of her!

Mya got to spend some with her Grandpa Steve and Grandma Pat.  In fact, she got to hang  out with Grandma Pat at the baptism while we were up at the front of the church doing our godparently duties!  Thanks, Grandma Pat!

11 Months Old!

Today I got a little sad.  My baby isn't so baby-like anymore and in just one month she'll be 1!  So amazing!

So, what is this little monkey up to?

She weighed in at 22 lbs., 6 oz and is 29.5 inches long.

She has lots of tricks that she enjoys sharing with us.  Her biggest trick is that she is walking!  And I mean EVERYWHERE!  That little devil is so fast and so I don't think I can trust her to be in a room by herself for very long because she'll be into just about everything!  She is especially quick when trying to escape and go up a flight of stairs!  :)

She LOVES to eat!  Some of her new favorite foods are pickles, salami, pineapple, kiwi (yuck), cheese and crackers, and of course the old favorites mac and cheese with hotdogs, bananas, etc.  It's hard to keep up with her when preparing meals.  She shovels food into her mouth so fast!

She loves to play with toys and will keep herself entertained for long stretches of time.  Her baby dolls provide her the most amount of entertainment and she is very good at giving them hugs and kisses!  I especially love when she entertains herself while I'm making dinner or doing some cleaning.  She loves to play with the measuring cups and even "help" fold the laundry.

She really loves people, especially mom and dad.  She is constantly giving hugs, kisses, and the occasional tug on the hair.   It seems like she's going to be a tough girl.  She'll fall into something or tip over and bump her head and it doesn't seem to bother her.  Don't get me wrong, she has her moments, but she seems tough right now!  She loves bouncing on big balls and trampolines and seems to have no sense of fear at the moment!

She is such a happy little girl and brings us constant joy!  We hope she brings joy to your lives as well!

Lark Toys

This weekend we took a trip to Lark Toys in Kellogg.  Mya had a blast!!!  She loved the fact that she could walk around and be able to play with the toys they have sitting around. It was a very kid-friendly place.  Mya especially loved pushing the mini grocery cart.  She also loved the wall of baby dolls.  This kid certainly loves her baby dolls!  She instantly clutches them and gives them a big hug.  And then we have to find something else to take her mind off the baby doll so we can pry it out of her hands!

They also had a train set out and Mya loved pushing them around.

They also had a section with lots of hats!  The hot dog hat is the best!

Mya also got the opportunity to ride on the carousel.  She was intently watching everything that was going on around her.  I was hoping she wasn't going to have motion sickness issues!  :)

A Case of the Giggles!

One night, Mya had a definite case of the giggles!  And it wasn't even over something funny.  Greg was whipping a dish towel and she thought it was the funniest thing ever!  (Sorry about the sideways shot!  I couldn't figure out how to rotate it!)

Watch Her Go!

We've been taking some short video clips of Mya...here's one of her walking!  (My favorite part is that her belly is hanging out!)

A Quick Visit!

Mya's Grandma Pat and Cousin Nadya came down for a quick visit recently.  Nod had picked out a special dress just for the occasion!  Mya LOVES Nadya and thinks she's pretty funny!

And the independent stage starts....NOW!  Here she is trying to put her shoe on.  I'm amazed at how she can balance with one leg up, even I have trouble with that one!  :)

She's a quick little walker.  I'll step away to do something, come back and she'll be in another room...usually up to no good, like taking all the wipes out of the box or removing a nightlight from a socket.

Mya continues to eat lots of things!  On this particular night she had tator tot hotdish and even ate the green beans!  She isn't the biggest fan of vegetables, yet, but she'll try them.  She loves fruit, especially bananas, strawberries, peaches and mandarin oranges.  Oh, and she doesn't like tabasco sauce much.  Greg thought it would be funny to give her a small lick.  Well, her face scrunched right up because it was too hot.  Poor kid!

A Walking We Will Go...

Mya can officially be called a walker!  Up until this weekend she would take just a few steps and be done.  But over the weekend, something clicked and she took OFF!  She toddles those little legs and will walk across the room.  It's so much fun to watch her!  We had  a feeling that she was going to be an early walker and now we really need to batten down the hatches in our house.  Nothing is off limits to Mya, at least in her mind!  This kid wants to be into everything, especially cords and doors.

I love this picture, as it was taken in the midst of her falling on her behind!  She's such a little ham!  A little walking ham, that is!

Our Muse

Since we spend so much time taking pictures of little miss Mya, we decided to upgrade our camera!  We took the short roadtrip to LaCrosse yesterday and bought our new Nikon camera.  LOVE it!  So, Mya better get used to us literally always having a camera in her face.  We've got a lot of learning to do with this new camera and she's the best subject we have to take pictures of!  Already, it's fun to see how much clearer the photos are.

Airing Out Her Dirty Laundry

Well, I had a dilemma on Sunday.  There was a very important Packer game that HAD to be watched, but it can hard to keep Mya contained/entertained sometimes.  So, I had the idea to bring the tv in her room, shut the door, watch the game and play with Mya.  It worked like a charm!  At halftime I brought her out to have a snack and then we holed ourselves up in her room again following halftime!  We had such a good time!  We played with toys, read books, and I even cleaned/organized a little bit!

The most entertaining part of our time came when she kept insisting to go into her laundry basket and pull out all of her dirty clothes.  She took each thing out and tried to place it on her head...even the socks.  It kept her thoroughly entertained for a good 20-30 minutes!

Here is the sequence of events!

Why Do Weekends Always Have to End?

This weekend my mom came down to hang out with Mya and me while both my dad and Greg had to work.  We did some scrapbooking, but mostly we hung out and played with Mya!  On Saturday we rooted on the Badgers by wearing our Bucky red shirts.  It was such a nice weekend!  I'm always so thankful when she comes to stay with us!  We don't always end up doing much, but we always end up having fun!

I'm pretty sure that Mya would gladly eat macaroni and cheese with hot dogs for every single meal!  The kid LOVES it!  I personally love when the macaroni gets stuck to every body part!  Into the tub she goes!

While we watched the Badger game, Mya played in between the couches.  It's cute when a kid does it, but if I were to do it, people would start to wonder.  She played so well while we watched football!  She played with toys and read some of her books.  What a great kid she is!

She's also a little funny.  Like when she snuggled up to my mom's slippers.  So strange, but funny enough to snap a picture of!

Hodge Podge of Pictures

A while back we installed the baby jail gate at the top of the stairs.  Great investment!  One of Mya's favorite things to do is to wait at the top of the stairs when someone is coming in the door.  She gets so excited, bounces up and down, and screeches.  She's also been known to throw things down the stairs, but not too often!

Any feeding time is messy, when it comes to Mya!  The area on which her chair sits usually needs to be mopped and her bibs last only one feeding.  However, it's nice that she is able to feed herself so that we can all eat dinner together.  I think the cleaning of her takes up the most part, though!

Mya loves her ladybug beanbag!  She loves laying on it and rolling off.  She especially loves when Daddy picks her up on it and swings her in the air.  No fear for this child!

Bath time is also another favorite of Mya's.  She got a super fun tub toy from Aidan for Christmas.  She's had a lot of fun playing with it!  Just one more excuse for her to stay in the tub all night long!

While up at my parent's house over Christmas, Mya scooted herself underneath one of their end tables.  I looked down and there she was looking up at me!  It reminded me of being in Hawaii and being on a glass bottomed boat.  I'm surprised she didn't try to "clean" the class while she was down there!
