Gobble, Gobble!

Who doesn't love Turkey Day??  Greg had to work on Thanksgiving (bummer), so Mya and I headed up to his parents for a few hours that morning.  It is hard having to split up the day between two families, especially when dinner time is at the same time.  However, we managed this year by hitting up the Telisak's for the before dinner crowd and then my parent's for the after dinner crowd.  Follow?  :)

Mya got her fill of family in that day!  Cousins, cousins and more cousins!

The blue eyes on these two just melt my heart.

Once we got to my parent's house, and because the weather was uh-mazing, Mya and the boys played some football.  I truly think that Mya believes that she is one of the big kids.  She chased after the boys, caught the ball and tackled too.

She might be a better choice for a field goal kicker than what the Packers have at the moment...

Mya just adores Ethan and Cameron!  They are soooo good with her!

I for sure thought that Mya was going to nap on the way home from the Telisak's.  But, that was a no-go.  I also thought that she would be a crabby butt later on in the afternoon.  But, she proved me wrong.  For not having a nap, she was amazingly good.  She was just a little social butterfly!

We also pre-made some special placemats for dinner.  We love our art projects!

We are so thankful for what we have in our lives and we hope that you had a fulfilling Thanksgiving too!

Three is a Magic Number

I teach 3rd grade, which means that I get to teach multiplication.  A couple weeks ago I introduced the kids to School House Rock.  They thought it was funny and old.  Anyway, as we were watching it, the song "Three is a Magic Number" came on.  It got me thinking, but not about multiplying by 3.

Whatever has happened and whatever will happen to us, my little family of 3 is the best part of my life right now.  Truly, 3 is our magic number.

And so, on this, the night before a day of giving thanks, I am counting my blessings times 3.

Adventures in Daycare

Mya still LOVES going to daycare!  She is thriving and we are excited to see her learn and grow.  Mya can count unassisted to 16 and recognizes some letters of the alphabet and numbers when we point to them.  She also recognizes what a quarter and penny are.  She knows the names of the others, but she doesn't know the difference yet.  Her memory is uh-mazing and she has a great vocabulary.  She loves her art projects and usually comes home with some fun things, which she is so proud of!  She loves drawing pictures of people and cutting scraps of paper with her little scissors.

I love that they take pictures of the kids there...it makes me feel like I can see what she's up to, without being there.

Halloween
This one cracks me up...Mya's on the end...and in charge!
The fire truck came during Fire Safety Week!
She loves her art projects!

A Budding Artist

Mya's been wowing us with her artistic abilities, as of late.  This weekend she spent some time with my mom and dad and my dad drew a picture (on the left) and then he asked her to copy it.  Her version is on the right.

Then I drew a picture and asked her to copy it...here's what she came up with.

And THEN she wanted to draw a picture of her family.  From left to right it is Daddy, Mommy and Mya.

We were really impressed with what she came up with!  When Iv'e asked her to draw a picture of herself it didn't usually look human-like!  I have no idea what a 2.5 year old's drawings are supposed to be like, but it's fun to see the things she keeps coming up with!

Bitten by the Flu Bug

Last weekend was a bit of a rough one in the Telisak house.  Poor Mya wasn't her normal self on Friday.  Feeling guilty, I let her sleep in bed with us.  Good thing because she woke up around 6:30 and started throwing up.  Luckily I had a bucket by the bed and Mya told me that she had to throw up.

We spent much of the weekend snuggling on the couch.  All she wanted to do was lay around and she took a bunch of naps.  It surely is never any fun when little ones are sick and there isn't really anything you can do about it.  All she wanted was her mommy and I didn't mind all of the snuggling!

Bibbidi, Bobbidi, BOO!

Twas the night before Halloween and we were busily making Frankie Cups for Mya's friends at daycare.  Picture crushed Oreos on the top of Frankie and you'll have the finished product!  Mya was a big helper and spooned the pudding into the cups for me!

A holiday surely can't go by without a picture in a holiday-themed shirt!  Love those piggies!

After work, I picked up Mya and we went over to my parent's house to help hand out candy.  That was the plan.  I didn't think that she would have an interest in trick-or-treating.  I was proven wrong, however.
Little Cinderella was a trooper and posed for the camera for me...  :)

Then Cassie and her friend, Josh, came over to go trick-or-treating in my parent's neighborhood.  Mya adores Cassie!  Because Cassie was going trick-or-treating, Mya was all about going out too.

I have to say, I was impressed with Mya and how well she did trick-or-treating!  She was in awe of all the kids in their costumes and was super polite and said her thank-you's.  She did a ton of walking and did great.  She was just one of the big kids!

We even ran into my fellow third grade team member, Patty!

Mya was too funny.  She insisted on carrying Cassie's bucket and would promptly say her trick-or-treats and hold both buckets up.  People got a good laugh out of that.  This particular woman said she'd be a great president...as if we didn't know that!  Ha!  :)

Toward the end, she started moving a little bit slower and I figured it was time to head back.  She climbed into the stroller and enjoyed a nice ride back to my parent's house.  Mya doesn't like candy (probably because we don't give it to her), so we're stuck with her loot.  Real bummer!  I don't know why she doesn't like candy...her mom's got a real sweet tooth!  :)

We had a fabulous Halloween!
