Swimming Lessons

Saturday marked the first day of swimming lessons of the fall for Mya.  Greg took one for the team and went in with her this time.  The water was a balmy 65 degrees...Mya was shaking by the time she was done, but she still didn't want to get out.

It was an introductory course through Parks and Rec.  A lot of singing and games...just getting acclimated to the water.  Not that Mya needs acclimating to the water.  She's a true fish.

Mya's School Pictures

Mya got her pictures taken at school this year and I think they're pretty cute!  I was expecting the worst...I mean, really?  A two year old getting pictures taken WITHOUT Mom hovering over to get her to smile?  Well, she proved me wrong and they captured her perfectly.  Piggie tails and all!

A Mommy and Mya Day

School has been busy...overwhelming is more like it.  I feel like I could spend every day there and still not feel like I'm prepared for what I need to do.  Sigh.  In any case, it was my intention to head into school for a bit this weekend.  Then I felt guilty.  I spend all week at school...I only get a couple days with Mya.  Decision made.  She and I were going to have a Mommy and Mya day.

Saturday we made our way to our awesome Children's Museum.  It was early so there weren't a ton of people there...which was part of my plan.  She had the run of the mill while we were there.  And in typical fashion, she made friends with other tiny people.  We played with all of their fun things including home-made play-doh, paint and chalk.

After that, we were both hungry.  I let Mya choose what she wanted to have for lunch...her request was chicken nuggets, french fries, ketchup and milk.  We went to Culver's for a delicious lunch.  I even treated!  :)

Today is Sunday.  We made a trip to Target and she picked out a new movie just because I love her.  It's a movie and pajama kind of day.

I think Mya is the best little thing ever.  The time that I have with her on the weekends is precious to me.  She is my little buddy.

Future Farmer?

We took a trip out to Auntie Beck and Uncle Doug's farm to deliver some freezer goodies.  Auntie Beck and Uncle Doug decided that Mya needed something to entertain her while out at the farm...her very own tractor!

Mya was BEYOND excited to ride this baby!  She put her foot on the pedal and off she went!  She had trouble steering.  I guess that means she probably shouldn't try for her drivers license yet??  The tractor even has a radio, which Mya thought was very cool!  What a fun toy!  I wish I could fit in it!

We picked out some pumpkins for Mommy's classroom and Mya was a big helper.  She loaded the baby pumpkins into the back of the trailer and then brought them back to the car!

Mya is terrible at hide-and-seek.  Don't get me wrong, she loves to play it, but she's terrible at hiding.  She usually goes in the same spot we just hid in.  Or, she covers her eyes...like we won't be able to find her!

My favorite is the butt in the air!  Still can't find you, Mya!  :)

The Name Game

Disclaimer:  Her name is actually Mya Michelle Telisak...she just prefers Mya Shelli.

Cookie Monster

Mya loves cookies.  Let me rephrase that...she likes frosting on cookies.  She and Grandma Shelli had some fun baking cookies while I spent some time at school over the weekend.

I'm thrilled that Mya enjoys being a little baker!  I'm not into the baking thing...just the eating thing!  :)

Farewell to Summer

It is my last official day of summer vacation...sniff, sniff.  I am excited to get the new school year rolling with my new batch of kiddos, but I'm sad that I don't get to spend my days with my little buddy.

We've been staying busy the last couple of weeks...here's what we've been up to:

We could spend HOURS at the park swinging
Mowing the lawn can be good exercise!
We work on our fine motor skills by using a pencil...
...and using lacing cards!
We celebrated Nadya's 5th birthday!
We go visit the grandparents for a little "cheese" time!
We LOVE baby Talia right up!
We ride bikes all over the place!

We tried moving Mya out of her crib...she's not ready for that yet!  :)

We've had a fun and exciting summer!  I'm sad to see it go, but look forward to the new school year!
