Creepy Crawlies

Mya's run into an abundance of creepy crawlies as of late.  She found a spider in the house.  She called it the Itsy Bitsy Spider.  She thought it was fun to watch it.  She also thought it was fun to torture it by blowing on it.

She also discovered ants outside and was fascinated with them.

Then, SOMEONE, showed her how to stomp on them.  So, guess what she did then?  Of course, she stomped on them too.  Thanks, Mom!  :)

Then, as if the spider and ant weren't enough, Mya found a worm!  She thought it was really funny to see it wiggle around.  She liked checking it out, but didn't want anything to do with touching it.  Can't blame her.

Weekend in Winona

Last weekend we packed up and spent the weekend in our old stomping grounds, Winona.  On our agenda first was Olivia's first birthday party.  Olivia is the daughter of one of my Arcadia co-workers.  Mya had fun playing with Olivia's sister, Emma.  What a couple of cuties!

Then we went back to our place and Greg and his mom worked on fixing up the kitchen.  By the end of the weekend the kitchen looked completely transformed.  New paint, flooring, paint on cabinets, and fixtures on cabinets.  Hopefully that's what we need in order to get that house finally sold!

My job was to keep Mya busy.  She kept herself entertained by "helping" paint and put in flooring.

It was an unbelievably beautiful weekend and so we spent time outside.  I broke out the bubbles and Mya LOVED it!  She was always so amazed when the bubbles blew away, it was too funny!

The next day we went to visit our old daycare provider, Tina.  We hung outside and played with her kiddos Landyn and Madyson.  Mya ran to Tina right away, so I think she remembers her!

It was a great weekend!

Daycare Days

Here are some pictures of Mya at daycare over the last month or so.  I love that they send us these pictures, it gives us an idea of what Mya's days at daycare are like!

Too busy to look at the camera, but not too busy to wave
Each week a children's musician comes to the center to have a real-live music class.  Of course, this is a highlight for Mya!  Her teachers always tell me how involved Mya is in the class and loves to sing and play instruments.  This picture cracks me up...Mya and a microphone?

Playing instruments
They celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday one week also...here's Mya in the Cat in the Hat's hat!

Her lead teacher really is fantastic.  They do tons of fingerplays, songs and dances!  Mya certainly stays entertained all day long!

Mya celebrated her 2nd birthday a couple days early at the center with her friends.  Birthday Scooby Doo makes a special appearance also!  We were one those families and  brought healthy snacks for her birthday.  Fruit it was for our picky eater!  :)

Baby Talia's Baptism

Last weekend was Baby Talia's baptism.  Why not just call her Talia?  Well, Mya calls her Baby Talia and so I guess I'm just used to that!

Greg had to work and so I flew solo with Mya at church.  Just thinking of how to keep a 2 year old entertained and quiet during a long church service makes my blood pressure rise! However, Mya did sooooo well!  I packed up a bag of books, her Aqua Doodle, and lots of snacks and we were able to make it through!

Reading with Izzy

Taking a walk with Fr. Ted and all the kids

Goofing around with Patrick, Tatiana, and Tanya

After the service we went over to Tina's parents house and had some lunch.  Mya hung out with the kids and played.

Aidan and Mya...too cute!

I don't know why I think Mya needs to have big kid toys to play with...she played with all of Talia's baby toys and had a ball!  She loved playing with the activity mat, even if there wasn't a baby in it!  She also took over Talia's swing and took a rest.  I thought that she would for sure fall asleep, but alas, she just rested.

Mya adores Talia.  She has named all her baby dolls Baby Talia.  When I ask her how she holds Talia, she cups her hands together.  Like she thinks Talia is a Polly Pocket or something!  In any case, it is so sweet to see that nurturing side of Mya come out with little ones!

Owie!

Well, it was bound to happen at some point.  I picked Mya up from daycare today and her teachers showed me the evidence of the bite marks on her arm.  My first question was "Is/was she okay?" and my second question was "Did she do something to warrant the bite?"  She is okay and, no,  she did not do anything to deserve the bite.  Apparently she was up in the tree fort with an older kid and he bit her twice.  Poor kid.  Even with her battle wounds, I think she looks pretty cute.

Party Day!

Last weekend we celebrated Mya's 2nd birthday with our families.  We ate, watched Mya open her presents, played and had cake.  Mya was spoiled with gifts like baby dolls, coloring books, Magna Doodle, a new backpack with her name on it, doll house accessories and other things.  It was a wonderful day!

Can't you just see the wheels a turnin'?

Her "cheese" face always makes me smile!

We love you, Mya!

Pink Eye

Pink eye is an awful thing.

Poor girl looks like she got punched in her right eye

Poor Mya was diagnosed with it on Tuesday.  The drops have worked wonders for Mya.  She obviously hates having them put in and we literally have to hold her down, but they are doing what they are supposed to be doing.

Mya isn't very good at sharing, however, she shared her pink eye with me.  Isn't that sweet?

Mya chose a beautiful day to need me to stay home, though.  It was sunny and warm and after her afternoon nap we went for our first walk of the year!

Spring Break 2012

This Spring Break was definitely wet and wild!  Just not the kind that include beaches and foreign countries!

We packed up and headed down to the Wisconsin Dells last week for a few days.  My spring break fell at the end of February and it was "dead" at the hotel/water park we stayed at.  Our room was even upgraded!  We brought Nadya along with us so that Mya would be thoroughly entertained.  The trick worked, although I think Nadya was getting annoyed with Mya!  :)  Mya truly adores Nadya and wanted to do everything that Nadya did and she wanted everything that Nadya had!

Headed down to the water park
Mya was a fish!  She LOVED being in the water, but most importantly, she loved going down the waterslides!  It seems like she has no fear.  She would go down a small one and then go onto a bigger one and it was by herself!  One of us would catch her at the end.  She had soooo much fun going down the slides!  Summer is going to be wonderful with all of the opportunities we will have to be around water.

I was trying to snap a picture of Mya going down the slide and Nod popped in front!

The girls certainly were tuckered out at night!  They cuddled together and watched part of a movie...until they both fell asleep!

We had such a great time and would love to go back down next winter!  It was a fun little getaway and the best part was that we could spend it together!

Can't forget about taking snack breaks!
