Mya Turns 4!!! Mya Turns 4!!!

CRAZY!!!

Four years ago, our lives changed in a wonderful way.  Mya is our little ray of sunshine when she snuggles with us and tells us we are her favorite mommy and daddy.  She has a funny sense of humor and doesn't take anything for granted.  She is very appreciative of what she has and sees joy in the simplest things.  She certainly has her "moments," don't get me wrong!  She has a sweet and caring side, but she can turn on the whiny and sassy side in an instant.  Oh well, comes with the territory!

Mya loves to eat pizza, broccoli, string cheese, chicken nuggets, tator tots, yogurt, vanilla ice cream, cupcakes/frosting, donuts with sprinkles, hot dogs, fruit and a host of other foods.

She continues to amaze us with her learning and desire to learn.  She loves to practice handwriting, rhyming, and letter/number recognition.  She loves to play school and be the teacher...she really has a "teacher voice!"

She loves to play Barbies and dollhouse.  She also loves to read books, play board games, watch movies, paint, dance and change her clothes umpteen times a day.

She is excited to be a big sister and I know she'll be a big help when the baby does come!

Our lives have been blessed beyond belief!

A look back...

4 Year Old Check-Up

At the end of January, Mya had her 4 year old check-up.  She weighed in at 35 lbs, 8 oz and was 3 feet 2 inches tall.  That puts her in the 60th percentile for weight and 20th percentile for height.  We know she's kind of shrimpy, but that's okay!  It just means she'll be in the front row for school and dance performances!  :)

She was a good little patient.  They checked her ears and eyes (both of which were perfect).  She also got two shots and didn't cry at all.  Brave girl!  She was pretty excited about the stickers she got afterward.  Little girl is growing up!

This and That

A few weeks ago, we went over to visit my brother in the Cities.  We had lunch at the bar/restaurant that he works at and then we went to the Science Museum.  It was a little old for Mya, but she still had a great time!  We're going to have to try out the Children's Museum next!  Mya had such a fun day and it was great to be able to meet up with Noah for a while!

Mya has been a learning machine lately.  I downloaded a letter tracing app on the iPad and she LOVES it!  I've also been printing out some handwriting pages for her and her printing is really coming along nicely!  She asks all the time how to spell names of people and then she will copy them.

I love when she makes her "E."  It looks more like a centipede, but it's pretty cute!

Greg has gone back to school for nursing.  He left one of his books out one night and Mya opened it up and starting flipping through it.  She came upon a page on how to give a rectal exam or something.  Then she proceeded to ask Greg why he's looking at butts.  We had a really good laugh over that one...and then promptly put the book at a higher level!

We've been playing a lot of board games recently.  Candyland is the favorite.  It's been a great way to teach fairness, rules and it's okay not to win.

We've been working on rhyming too.  This kid loves to learn.  We play the letter game constantly.  Like, the first thing in the morning when she crawls in our bed.  I love that she loves learning!

And here are just some other random pictures...and a video to prove her mad skipping skills.
