Three Years Old...Really?

Yep, she's 3 years old!  Our little Mya is not so little anymore.
Here are some things you might want to know about our 3 year old...

Eating:  She is muuuuuuch better when it comes to eating!  Veggies are still a challenge, but she's branching out to eat normal meals with us like pork chops, meatloaf, chicken.  She must have finally gotten tired of eating her five favorite meals!  She still loves her chicken nuggets, yogurt, cheese, crackers, fruit, mac and cheese and pretzels.  She's not much of a sweet eater, but she loves frosting on cake and cupcakes!

What She Likes:  Mya is obsessed with dressing up...we have a lot of princess dresses in our house!  She also loves art projects, playing with dolls, reading books (especially Pete the Cat), singing, dancing, playing games, cuddling at nap time or bed time, looking at pictures and helping out with the cleaning.

What She Doesn't Like:  Being told she can't do something...that's the biggest one.  She is much better in the tantrum throwing area, so I'm relieved with that!

Other Tidbits:  We can rationalize with her.  She wants to know how things work (she already asked how Santa got into our house).  She is so empathetic toward others feelings (for example, I wasn't feeling well and she wanted to wrap me up in blankets.  She then asked if I wanted to cuddle or take a nap with her.).  Mya loves to learn and we are constantly told how much of a little student she is.  She loves drawing pictures of people, especially with their belly buttons!

What this past year has taught me, more than ever, is to cherish what we have and those we have in our lives.  I can't begin to tell you how lucky I feel to be her mommy.  This little girl is so special to us and brings constant joy and laughter to our lives.  Don't get me wrong, she's like any typical toddler and has her normal 3 year old moments.  But, she's truly a terrific kid.  How lonely we would be without her.  Happy birthday, little buddy!

Mya requested grilled cheese sandwich for her birthday dinner.  I brought it to her with 3 candles and sang "Happy Birthday."  She was beyond pleased!

Mommy, It's Almost My Birthday!

This past weekend we celebrated Mya's 3rd birthday!  For WEEKS, Mya has been telling me, "Mommy, it's almost my birthday!"  Finally her party day had arrived!

We had a full house and had such a great time!  We are so thankful for our families that came from far and near to join in on the festivities!

Mya has been all about Brave since Christmas time.  She received some fabulous Brave toys, slippers, and nightgown.  She also got some new dress-up shoes, raincoat and rain boots.  She definitely made a haul!

Mya also got a pair of fairy wings.  She was convinced that the only way she could wear the wings was by taking off ALL of her clothes.  I said that it's fine now...just not in 10 years!  Ha!

She also received her highly anticipated Merida dress and shoes.  She's been wearing it around constantly and it is a good dancing dress!  We seriously have glitter EVERYWHERE!!!!

I cannot begin to tell you how excited Mya got when we started singing "Happy Birthday" to her.  She had this look of pure, innocent joy.  Kind of like this one moment was for her and she didn't have to share it with anyone!  Best moment of the night, hands down!

We loved celebrating our fabulous 3 year old's (almost) birthday!  Next weekend is the actual day and we've got some fun things planned!

All You Need is Love!

Well, today was an unexpected day.  First of all, we ended up having a snow day!  Since Greg and I were supposed to be working today, Mya was supposed to go to daycare.  I called daycare and said that I'd be keeping Mya home so that we could spend some time together!  We've had such a nice little day!  She played in the snow while I was shoveling.

After a little while, she got bored and asked to go inside.  When I came inside, this is how I found her.  Under the table, half naked, playing with dolls.

Mya is never one to turn down the opportunity to have her picture taken.  And since she had on her new Valentine's Day t-shirt, I had to quick snap a picture!

I was spoiled for Valentine's Day.  Even though we said no gifts, I received some beautiful roses and an iPhone!!!  Daddy also got Mya some pretty flowers of her own, too!

Our gift to Daddy is the next picture, in a picture frame.  I asked Mya the questions and she gave me her answers.  The last one melts my heart!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Shoveling

I'm over winter.  This last week I think we had to be out shoveling 3 or 4 times because of snowfall.  Ugh.

Mya is a helper.  Our neighbors were out one time and they commented on what a good helper I had.  I told them it is like taking 2 steps forward and 5 steps back!!  Mostly I have to go back and re-shovel what she "shoveled."  I need the snow shovel fairy to come visit me!

Super Bowl Sunday

I loooooove lazy weekends!  And that was just what we had!  After a long week filled with parent/teacher conferences, I don't think I changed out of yoga pants all week.  Of course, I didn't do any yoga!

Even though our team wasn't playing in the Super Bowl, we (well, Mya) showed our Packer Pride!  When pregame coverage started, Mya stated, "I like Aaron Rodgers!"  That's my girl!!

The best part of the football game was the half time show put on by Beyonce.  Mya LOVED the whole shabang!  She grabbed her Elmo guitar and started jamming away.  She sang along and mimicked the moves that Beyonce did.  Funny stuff!

"If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it..."  she's got the actions down!
