Little Mommy

Mya has been joined at the hip to her newest baby doll.  She seriously hearts her!!  She feeds her meals from a spoon, gives her sips of milk, rocks her, and gives her a pacifier.  Sometimes the pacifier winds up in Mya's mouth...but never mind!

Birthday Bash!

It sure was a whirlwind weekend!  On Saturday we celebrated Mya's 1st birthday!  We were so fortunate to have so many family members able to come!
My mom and dad came down on Thursday evening to watch Mya for us on Friday.  However, I ended up having Friday off and so we all got one extra day together!  It was actually turned out to be super because my mom and I were able to get all of the food made up ahead of time!  I could not have done it without my mom!!!!

Auntie Beck and Uncle Doug were the first to arrive and Mya enjoyed showing Uncle Doug where her tummy is.  Look how big it is!

Then the two of them started hiding the ladybug under their shirts.  It provided a lot of entertainment for everyone else!

I kind of figured that Mya wouldn't be all that interested in opening her presents, but she didn't do too bad!  She loved the ribbons on top of the presents and tissue paper inside the bags!

We got her a baby doll and it turned out to be a very good choice!  She got so excited when she saw it that she was almost knocked Greg over to get at it!  She wasn't very patient at waiting for it to be taken out of its package!

Uncle Noah got her a really fun (and loud) musical Winnie the Pooh train.  Mya loves it!  She especially loves hitting buttons over and over and over!!  I will remember this gift when Noah has children of his own someday!  :)

The theme of the day was monkeys!  Greg's mom made the best looking monkey cake ever!  It turned out sooooo cute and tasted even better!

Mya also got her own baby smash cake.  I wasn't sure what she would do with it.  She tasted the frosting very gingerly and didn't dig in as much as I thought she would!  She did, however, need a bath immediately afterward!

It was a super special day and we were so thrilled to be able to spend the day with our families.
Our little love bug turns one on Thursday!

1 Year Old Check-Up

Mya had her 1 year check-up on Thursday.  Her favorite part of the appointment was running barefoot around the room and then sitting down on the bare floor.  I'm thinking she liked the coolness of the floor (?), but I could be wrong!  She had to get two shots and one finger poke.  She did fine with the shots, but the finger poke was a whole other story. She CRIED so hard and I felt sooooo bad!

She weighed in at 21 lb. and 8 oz. (50-75%ile) and was 29 1/4 inches long (50-75%ile).  Now, she weighed in less at this appointment than when I weighed her last month.  So, either I messed it up or the ounces are just melting off of her now that she's walking!!

I went downstairs to do a load of laundry and came back up to a red-headed baby.  Why do kids feel the need to run their hands through their hair ONLY when they have food in them???

Also, why is it that kids are attracted to things they shouldn't be?  Mya loves tissues.  She enjoys tearing them into tiny pieces and then sometimes snacking on them.

Mya's daycare was closed this week and Greg took Mya home for a few days.  Fun was had by all!!

Sick Days

Both Greg and I will be extremely glad when warmer weather rolls around.  Warmer weather usually means no more cold and flu season!  This week we both got strep.  Ha ha...get your jokes in here now.
I'm thinking that I've had it for a while, but just chalked it up to a cold.  However, I've had  4 kids in the last month in my classroom out with strep, so my best guess is that I got it from one of those little buggers.  In any case, Greg and I got it and Mya DID NOT!  Daycare went on vacation on Friday and it was supposed to be a Daddy and Mya day.  Instead, it ended up being a family day because I wasn't allowed at school!

Mya's into everything.  She enjoys taking the cover off of the ottoman, placing it on the floor, and trying to stand on it.  This morning she plopped her little heinie on it and was so excited with herself for getting her whole butt on there, not just one cheek!

With family time comes silly time.  Greg put her in the ottoman.  She thought it was funny!

We also broke out a toy she had gotten for Christmas, but hadn't been opened yet.  Great idea because it was like Christmas all over again!  She has been so entertained with her little farm!  She especially likes stuffing the animals into the silo.  She does get a little testy when her arm gets stuck, though!

We have a feeling Mya is going to be a lefty.  She uses both hands to manipulate things, but when it comes to fine motor things, like grabbing for food, she uses her left hand.  In this particular picture she was feasting on chicken tetrazzini and was SHOVELING it into her mouth with her left hand.  I guess we'll see!

Flashback!

Here's a video clip from a while ago, December 4th, to be exact.  I knew it was a while ago because Mya's only crawling.  Now she won't crawl if her life depended on it!

Onto the video clip...anyone need a human Swiffer?  You can borrow Mya, if you'd like!  (My apologies for the sideways view, again!)

Super Bowl, Super Girl

Today is Super Sunday!  Mya was decked out in her Packer gear and ready to cheer on our team!  Mya will put her arms in the air to signal "touchdown" and after yelling TOUCHDOWN a couple times, we are CERTAIN she said it too!  Not kidding!  Sure it was mumbled, but whatever, this kid is going to be a football fan!

Once the game started, she didn't seem to care too much.  Instead, she wanted to focus on her remote.
Mya has been pretty crabby today.  She's got a gross, runny nose and has been really clingy/cuddly.  We're not sure if it's because of her teeth or if she's got a cold.  In any case, it's been a very low-key day.

This not-so baby girl loves her baby dolls!  Last week she got a hold of a toothbrush and brushed her baby's teeth.  She doesn't like to brush her own teeth, but she'll brush her baby's teeth!  So silly!

Another fascination of Mya's has been Velcro, specifically Velcro on shoes.  I think she's most intrigued by the sound of it!  Mya also likes to try and put her own shoes on.  She also likes to try and put clothes on.  Socks and pants like to placed on her head.  Someday, I assume, she'll get it figured out!

Fun in a Tent!

A couple weeks ago I found a Disney princess tent clearanced out at Target and picked it up for Mya.  It was a hit!  She had more fun scooting in and out of the tent than anything else!

My mom saved a bunch of bath toys from when my brother and I were little and now Mya gets to reap the benefits!  One of her favs was the bumblebee that winds up and flits around in the water.  So strange to see my kid playing with toys I played with as a kid!

Mya's laugh just gets me every time!  Sometimes we can get her going by kissing her tummy or tickling her.  In this particular picture, my mom was blowing her hair!  She thought it was the funniest thing!  Love that kid!
