Lots o' Animals!

We went to Govin's Farm last week to check out the cuddly little animals.  And boy, were there ever a ton of animals out and about!  We checked out the little lambies first.  They were so soft and just wanted to hang out on Mya's lap.  Mya was so gentle with them!

Next we checked out the goats and alpacas.  Baby goats are just about the cutest thing!  Mya was interested in the older goats, but their horns were just a bit too big for my liking!

There were a ton of baby chicks around, too!  So soft and fluffy.  And although it looks like Mya is man-handling this chick below, no chicks were harmed during this time.

There were also baby pigs!  Some were very squealy...but not the one we had.  He was content to be held.

Mya also fed the sheep.  I wasn't sure what she would do with this.  She held her hands out and Greg put some feed in her hands.  Those hungry sheep took it right out of her hands.  I wish I would have recorded her laughter because it was priceless!

Finally, Mya took a ride on a pony!!  Last year she didn't want anything to do with the ponies.  This year she was very excited to ride!  She looked like such a big girl riding around!

Road Trip!

Well, our road trip didn't go very far...but we did travel, nonetheless!  The other day we took a trip down to Wabasha to go the Eagle Center and Lark Toys.  Mya has been interested in eagles as of late...don't know where that came from.  Anyway, we went to see and learn about some beautiful eagles.  Mya was so good throughout the presentation.  I tend to have low expectations when it comes to her staying focused and quiet.  But, she was awesome!

After the Eagle Center we went to Lark Toys to ride the carousel, pick out a toy and eat some ice cream!

We had such a nice time!!  Spending my days with Mya and Greg makes me so happy!

iPhone Photos

Let's be honest...this post has no rhyme or reason.  It really is just a hodgepodge of pictures from my phone.  Oh well!

I am officially on Spring Break!!  No big travel plans for us, but we do have a few things planned to do as a family!  Greg is also taking the week off, so we'll be together a lot!  ;)

I, personally, have a ton of things on my to-do list...
*Create two new units for my class
*Finish my two papers for my grad class
*Price things for our thrift sale
*Clean, clean, clean

We'll see how much actually gets accomplished!
Onto the photos!

Mya-isms

This kid cracks me up.

She does the weirdest things.  The things she comes up with leaves me either a.) laughing or b.) scratching my head.

Here are a couple things Mya has said to me this week...

"Mommy, you're frustrating me."
"I've got my eyes on you."
"Mommy are you wearing your crabby pants?"  (That one is really from Greg, but now he has a partner in crime)

If Mya does anything physical (or non-physical, for that matter), she wipes her brow and says "Phew."

We like to laugh at her!

Snow Much Fun!

Mya has been enjoying all of this snow we've been getting over the last few weeks.  I, on the other hand, am sick of it.

Mya went sledding with her cousins a couple weeks back.  She had a smile on her face the entire time!  And her feet never touched the snow...Daddy brought her up the hill each time!

It was bright out!
Mya is into making snow angels, too.  And eating snow.  Yum, yum.

Winter is a great time to play...but c'mon.  I'm anxious to see grass sometime soon!

Birthday Adventure

For Mya's birthday, we took her to the Mall of America for a little adventure.  She was a fantastic little rider in the car.  She read books, used the Kindle and munched on some snacks.

For the most part, she sat really well in the stroller.  She wasn't asserting her independence too much and wanting to walk instead of ride.  That can always be a challenge.

Our first stop was The Rainforest Cafe for lunch.  Mya LOVED the large gorillas that moved.  She watched them so intently and laughed hysterically when they "woke up."

Then we went on some rides in the park.  It's a good thing that Grama Shell has a tough stomach, because she went on all the spinny rides that I can't ever seem to do.  Phew...thanks, Grama!

It seemed like everyone and their neighbor was at the MOA on this particular day.  I ran into one of my 3rd grade teaching partners, a student and two teachers from Arcadia.  Talk about a small world!!  In any case, it was busy and after the rides we went to the Disney Store.  The plan was to let Mya pick out a few gifts for her birthday.  The place was packed and my patience was thin.  Mya did well, considering the chaos in the store. She chose a Rapunzel and Merida doll.  I also picked up on some new nightgowns for her.

Mya was all kinds of exhausted after the rides and shopping, so she zonked out for about an hour.  I don't know how she managed to sleep in that place, but she did!

After we got tired of the mall, we went back to the hotel.  I'm glad we got a room because I think all 3 of us were beyond tired!!!  We got some food, played on the Kindle and called it a night!

Mya's favorite part of the weekend was probably riding on this cart and riding on the alligator...a.k.a. elevator.  That was a huge thrill for her!!

3 Year Old Check-Up

Last week we brought Mya into the clinic for her 3 year old well-child check-up.  We really like her pediatrician and she was awesome!  We talked about a lot of the typical 3 year old things and he answered a couple of questions.  He was impressed with her knowledge...Greg almost asked her to cross her eyes...that would not impress him.  See following photo...that just freaks me out.

They wanted to check her hearing and vision.  They said this typically doesn't work out with most 3 year olds because they don't want to pay attention.  Dr. Plewa thought we could try it with Mya and see what happens.  For her vision, I had to put my hand over one eye and she had to identify shapes (instead of letters on a typical chart).  She did awesome with both eyes and I'm convinced that she sees better than I do!

For hearing, she had on a set of headphones and had to point to a picture of what was said on the recording.  She did fine for the right ear and then just started pointing at everything for her left ear.  In any case, they are not worried about her hearing!

Check-up Statistics:
Weight:  30 lbs. 0 oz. (45th %ile)
Height:  35 3/4 inches (17th %ile)
So, she is average for her weight, but for height...she's a little shrimp!  Short and sassy sweet!
