Trip to the Dentist

I haven't been to the dentist in ages, so I figured that before I got caught up in the back-to-school rush, Mya and I needed to get our teeth cleaned.

A couple years ago I took her to a pediatric dentist to get her two front teeth checked out, so she doesn't remember it.  I wasn't sure how she would react to the cleaning and stuff.

My cleaning was first and Mya was able to check out how the hygienist used all of the tools on me.  And then it was Mya's turn.  She hopped into the chair and let the hygienist do her thing!  I was so proud of her!  She didn't move a muscle and was very cheery for the whole visit.  She thought it was pretty neat-o that she got to wear sunglasses during the check-up!

And good news!  Neither of us have cavities!!  (I've never had a cavity and I'm not going to start that trend now!!)  But, Dr. Jim warned that Mya has a bit of an overbite and that in about 8 years we would need to prepare for the cost of braces!  Better start saving now!  :)

Swimming Lessons!

Last week marked the last day of swimming classes for Mya.  She passed all of the skills required!!  She did awesome!  She dunks her head under water, blows bubbles, practices the front crawl, floats on her back...even without teacher support!  Mya has no fear when it comes to water.  She "practices" swimming at the lake all the time and I am feeling less nervous with her being in it and I am just watching on the shore.  We'll probably sign her up for another session this winter for something fun to do!

Fun Dye Factory

Last week, Mya and I went to the Fun Dye Factory to tie dye some apparel.  It was super duper fun!  Mya picked out a dress to tie dye and chose purple and pink as her colors.  Shocking!  I tie dyed a t-shirt orange, yellow and dark pink.

Mya was a great little student.  The store employee showed her how to do it at first and then let Mya take the reins.  Check out the concentration with the tongue out!

And here is Mya's finished product.  She wants to wear it pretty much every day!

It was so nice to spend a little Mommy and Mya time that day.  We don't get a lot of time together, just the two of us.  It was a great day!

Sweetness

These two sweeties sure do love each other.  Ellie is enthralled with Mya and smiles every time she is near.  And Mya?  Well, she always wants to help with taking care of Ellie, giving her kisses, tickling her, etc.

They sure are lucky to have each other!

The Lake

Last week Mya, Ellie, my mom and I went up to the lake for some more cabin time.  Lisa, Blane and the boys were on vacation and needed some company, so we were happy to join them!  The weather wasn't the best.  Cool for July.  BUT, of course we made the most of it and enjoyed the sunshine when it was out.

Mya loves using the princess fishing pole.  There isn't a hook on it, but she loves to cast it into the water.

Both Cameron and Ethan are so good with Mya.  She wants to do everything that they are doing and they are very patient and kind to her.  She just adores them.

She thinks that she can swim like a mermaid.  Hence, the reason why her arms and hands look like they do!  Ha!

Ellie went for a romp on the trampoline.  It was more like a little ripple.  She didn't seem to care.  Now, when Mya first tried out the trampoline, she laughed like a lunatic.  It kind of suits both of their personalities.  Ellie=laid back and Mya=adventurous!

Mya likes to take a swim with the dive scooter.  Fun little gadget that she won't be getting from us anytime soon!  That's why the cabin is so much fun...fun stuff that parents won't buy for their own kids!

Mya wanted to practice her swimming skills, since swimming lessons were starting up soon.  She is fearless when it comes to water.  She loves to dunk her head under water.

The hammock was the next best thing to the swing for Ellie!  She chilled out while we worked!

I really do love taking photos.  And I really love that Mya doesn't mind me always being in her face with the camera!  Ellie will soon learn that too, I hope!  I snapped a few pictures of Mya by the creek running by the cabin.  The colors just popped out and little Mya looks lovely!

3 Months Old!

This smiley, chubby baby turned 3 months old on July 1st.

Ellie...
*likes to make her voice heard!  She is "talking" a lot more these days.  She squeals, coos and yells.  She talks to us and toys!  :)
*is hungry!  She seems to be eating a TON more these days and so I think she is ready to be starting cereal very soon!
*loves fuzzy blankets.  When she is not happy, all she really needs to settle down is a soft, fuzzy blanket by her face and she calms down pretty quickly.
*likes chewing on her hands and burp cloths.
*is highly entertained by her sister.  Mya sings and dances for Ellie and Ellie laughs at her.

Gymnastics!

For the past 4 weeks, Mya has been taking gymnastics classes through Parks and Rec.  Oh my word...she loves it!  We got a good idea last summer that it was something fun for her.  She worked on all kinds of skills and I was amazed at how focused she was.  She was an amazing listener and did all that was asked of her.  Her coach used her as an example many times that last class because she knew exactly what to do.

Parents were only allowed to sit in the room and watch on the first and last lessons, so that the kids were better able to concentrate.  I loved watching her!  She had such a great time and shows very good skill on the different pieces of equipment.

She says that the balance beam is her favorite.  And boy oh boy, she sure scoots across that thing!
