Play-Doh

I pulled out the Play-Doh this weekend and wondered what Mya would think of it.  She's unusual in the sense that she freaks out when anything is on her hands...and I mean ANYTHING.

Well, she loved it.  Hmm...this weekend Play-Doh, next weekend finger painting?

And here's one just to make you smile.

Daddy's Little Helper

Wherever Greg is with his tools, there is Mya right by his side.  She loves her drill and hammer, but if given the opportunity, she loves the real hammer more.

Last week Greg was pulling nails out of a cabinet with his hammer.  Mya saw this and ran away yelling "Mya hammer!"  Sure enough, she came back in with her plastic hammer!

Snow!

We got some snowfall last week and Mya and I went outside to play for a little bit.  She brought her shovel along and helped sort of helped.  She was happy just to trudge through the snow while I shoveled.

She also started marching up and down the sidewalk and people who came by thought she was pretty funny.  That's my girl...she'll be a class clown one day!

Cookie Girl

Grandma Pat picked up Mya from daycare the other day.  She took on the task of baking cookies with Mya, Nadya, and William.  I think Mya put flour on her face just to make it look like she did all the work...

Sesame Street Live

Well, Mya went to her first concert.  We went over to the cities to see Sesame Street Live...try to curb your enthusiasm!

We left early in the day and Mya stayed entertained by watching Winnie the Pooh on Lisa's tablet on the ride over.  Thank goodness for technology!

Before the show started, we were able to go into a play zone.  I'm glad we got there early because it got crowded fast!  Mya was coloring a picture when all of a sudden she saw this guy (Murray for all of you non-Sesame Street watchers).  She literally jumped off her chair to follow him!  It was hysterical!

We played around for a little bit and took advantage of the photo ops.

Some of the characters came out and did a little song and dance and Mya had a front row seat.  She saw Zoe, Ernie, and Bert up close.  She wasn't so sure about them coming up and reaching out for her, but she did just fine!

Then we headed into the arena.  I wish, wish, wish that I would have recorded Mya's face when she saw the cast of the show come on stage.  It was pure amazement!  Her jaw dropped and her eyes were huge!  It literally brought tears to my eyes!

The show was great!  It had a lot of singing and dancing and she was totally entertained.  I was very impressed at how well Mya sat through the show.  She was tired and so I thought for sure she would have a meltdown, but no meltdown was had.  She sang along, clapped her hands and had a really good time!

Our Week

Well, it's been a little like this...

...and a little like this.

During the week, Mya spiked temps during the night of around 103.  She's also had a nasty little cough to go along with it, not to mention a runny nose.  Needless to say, our nights have been fairly miserable.  Pneumonia had been going around daycare and I was worried about that.  We kept her home a couple days to see if it would help.  Her temp finally did subside, but the other things have lingered.  Greg brought her into the clinic yesterday just to check and see if everything was okay (I was worried about her ears).  Dr. Plewa said that it is something viral.  He said if we had brought her in when she had her high temps they would have given her antibiotics, but now it's something that just needs to run its course.  What fun.

Here's hoping for a good nights sleep for the three of us!  :)

Move Over, Picasso

Mya continues to love to color and draw.  I'm always amazed at how much time she'll actually spend sitting and coloring.  She may only stay on one page for a little bit of time, but she'll color in each page of that coloring book and that takes a while to do!

Santa brought Mya tub crayons for Christmas so we've been using them at bath time a lot.  She LOVES her tub crayons!  Well, who wouldn't love coloring at bath time?

Mya also likes to use her Aqua Doodle.  She and Trajan were playing with it at church (and were playing quietly!), so we went out and got one for her.  We figured it would be good to use in the car for trips and such.

And finally, coloring books that have stickers in them are the most amazing thing to Mya. She enjoys putting them on her head, eyes, nose, etc.  I found one in her bed the other day too.
