Girls Vacation

Mya and I went up to the lake last week to spend some time with our favorite girls: my mom, aunt, and two cousins.  I had some technology training all day Thursday, so Mya hitched a ride to the cabin with my mom.  She then spent quality time with those lovely ladies!  Mya was so deprived and got so little attention.  Yeah, right!  :)

We spent some time in the lake.  Well, Mya spent time in the lake and we just watched to make sure she didn't go under.  She loves being in the water...not so much being under the water.  Mya thinks she can do just about anything and that includes wiggling out of death grips to go "running" in the water.  A couple times she fell in the water and didn't like it.  She makes me nervous sometimes...

Not so sure about the sand on this day

Quick!  Time to escape!

After being outside and having dirty feet, not to mention a syrupy french toast breakfast, Mya needed a bath.  Instead of taking a normal bath in the sink, Lisa pulled out a plastic tub and Mya got to have her bath in that!

Friday was a gloomy day, so we went shopping in Rice Lake!  It was a fun road trip and, as per usual, Mya came out with a nice wardrobe for next summer!

Taking a break and eating some fruit snacks

Some things seem to be staples of being on vacation at the cabin: playing with the dollhouse, getting into mischief, and eating.  We ate TONS and our tummies were never empty!  Mya loves freeze pops...especially blue ones.  She also has a mind of her own.  Auntie Beck shared a bite of a cupcake with Mya.  Mya didn't want it, she wanted all of Auntie Beck's.  So, what did she do?  She gave each and every crumb of the bite back to Becki and then stole the rest of her cupcake.  Can't blame her...they were good cupcakes!

Nothing new here...Mya likes being involved in home renovation projects.  Blane was putting on a new door to the cabin and Mya had to be right in the thick of things.  She was very diligent and put all of the nails and screws in the bag!

Life on the Lake

We headed up to the lake for a couple days last week to enjoy some beautiful weather.  Mya wanted little to do with anything other than the lake!  We played, floated, splashed, practiced our swimming moves, and sat in the sand.  She loved putting sand in her hands and then "washing" them in the water.
Oh, how I wish summer could continue on for a few more months!

Kick, kick, kick

Kisses for Cassie

And what could be more fun that a flashlight and one sock?  Just ask Mya...apparently there is much fun to be had.

Summer Fun

We've been keeping very busy this summer...hard to believe it is already August!

In order to keep Mya confined/entertained when changing her diaper, I sing songs.  I sang The Itsy Bitsy Spider and it has become a hit with her.  She even will do the actions along with me...lots of fun!

The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water spout...

McDonalds is a fun place to eat and meet new red-headed friends!

Mischief could be Mya's middle name.  She's very busy!

Corn is still about the only veggie Mya will eat.  I used to cut it off the cob for her, not so much anymore.  The kid will eat three ears of corn in a sitting...and nothing else.

Summer wouldn't be summer without a little relaxion...she's got the right idea!

Goodnight, Gorilla

Books certainly keep Mya entertained.  Sometimes she wants to plop down and have me read and sometimes she just wants some "alone" time and read on her own.
She turns the pages for me, helps me points to certain things, and is able to point to things I ask her about.

One of Mya's favorite books is Goodnight, Gorilla.  She is in love with monkeys, the text is super duper simple, and the illustrations are great.  All of that makes for a great book!

Last week I asked her if she wanted to read the gorilla book and she went to the bookshelf and grabbed the book!  Maybe just a fluke, but still, I was impressed!

Picnic in the Park

Today we met up with Lisa, Cassie, Cameron, and Ethan at Irvine Park.  It was a glorious, sunny, hot summer day!  We started out by checking out the animals.  First stop was the ducks.  Mya liked to see them in real life, and not just from a book!  She even fed the bread to the ducks without taking a bite herself!

Then we went into the barn to check out those animals.  She looooved the goats and sheep!  The goats were poking their noses out of their pens and Mya even petted them!  She then, of course, put her fingers in her mouth.  Sigh...

Love her expressions!

Well, hello there Mrs. Sheep!

Checking out the BIG cats!

Everything the big kids did, Mya had to do too.  They ran their hands on the fence and so did Mya!!

After checking out the animals, we had lunch.  Then we headed over to the fountains!  Why haven't I brought Mya here before????  Holy moly, she loved running around!  The thing that I don't get is that she hates having water on her head and face (like she'll scream when I wash her hair in the tub).  However, she didn't seem to mind it at all when the water from the fountains came pouring on her face...little stinker!

Mya also continues to prove that she has no fear of new things.  The fountain in the middle was quite large and powerful.  She kept going toward it, like she was going to go through it or something.  Thankfully, she backed off!

Ducking underneath the fountain

The little lady was so tuckered out that she fell asleep in the car on the ride home.  Literally minutes after we left the park, she was out!
