Time to Invest in Cabinet Locks...

While staying at my Mom and Dad's house, Mya figured out how to open up their pantry door.  She found some good stuff...

then she stood up and figured out there was even better stuff...

and then the little monkey climbed right on into the pantry!

I can't blame her...she got her hands on the chocolate syrup!  Good choice, kiddo!

Like Mother, Like Daughter

Today Mya went in for her 9 month check up.  She weighed in at 20 pounds and 3 ounces (75th %ile).  She measured 29 inches long (90th %ile).  She got her flu shot today.  She cried for just a short bit and then was fine.  Mya was also diagnosed with her very first ear infection today, hence the title of the blog post.  I have had problems with my ears since I was a kid and it has carried onto adulthood.  I'm really hoping that this is one genetic trait she doesn't get!!  We should have known that she was having ear problems since the last couple nights she's waken up crying, not for long periods of time or anything.  Anyway, she is on antibiotics now and hopefully her ears get better soon!

Tonight Mya was on the move.  She got behind her Dora the Explorer push car and zoomed away!  We turned her around and then she jetted on the other way!  Then we thought it would be good to put her in the hallway because it is longer.  She had enough of walking and we put her on it to ride.  She tried to get off and then proceeded to wedge herself between the closet door and the car.

Mya's favorite thing to do in the kitchen is to play with the measuring cups.  It keeps her occupied while we eat dinner!  She prefers the metal measuring cups because when she bites on them she can hear her teeth chattering away.  It sounds like a mouse is loose in the house!

Gobble, Gobble!

This year, more than any other year, we have so much to be thankful for.  Not only are Greg and I thankful for each other and our incredibly amazing daughter, but we are thankful for our health and that of our families.  Life can change in an instant and I'm so thankful that my family came together and overcame the obstacles of my dad's accident.

Thanksgiving was a very busy day for Mya and me.  Unfortunately Greg had to work on Thanksgiving, but she and I made the trek up to his mom and dad's for the Telisak Thanksgiving.  Mya and Trajan were busy.  They played with toys together, took each other's toys, and watched squirrels together.  Not only that, but they cried together too.  Trajan began crying for some unknown reason.  Well, Mya saw him crying and just burst into tears too.  Drama queens!

Mya also played with her cousin, Liam.  He was thrilled.

We spent time there and then headed down to my mom and dad's for the Manning Thanksgiving.  Mya was kept entertained by Cassie, Cameron, and Ethan and played blocks with them.
Mya hardly napped that day because there was so much going on!  She slept right through dinner!  Oh well!  She enjoyed the aftermath of rolls and mashed potatoes later on!

Mya enjoys jewelry.  On this particular occasion, she was playing with my Uncle Doug's diabetic necklace.

The next day my mom and I went out shopping, so Mya hung out at Grandma and Grandpa Telisak's house.  She had a full house of grandkids that day!  Thank you to Pat for watching Mya!

9 Months Old!

Mya turned 9 months old on November 24th!  She continues to amaze us each day and we are very much smitten with her!

She heads to the doctor next week for her 9 month check up.  It'll be interesting to hear what her height and weight stats are at!

Mya is crawling around all the time.  She loves standing.  Then falling.  Then standing again.  And falling again!  She tires me out just watching her!  When standing, she scoots alongside things like the couch.  She hasn't taken any steps yet, but we have a feeling they aren't too far down the road!

She typically goes to bed around 7:30-8:00 and will sleep straight through until 5 or 6!  I'm so thankful that the days of her getting up two or three times are done!  She's a joy to get out of her crib in the morning because she's so excited to see you!

She continues to try new foods.  Applesauce, mashed potatoes and dinner rolls are a new favorite!  Little by little she's getting it!  She is kind of a strange little girl, though.  My mom gave her a taste of frosting from a cake and she gagged.  Come on!

Mya loves daycare too!  She is a hit with all of the kids.  Our daycare provider's daughter likes her so much that she will change her outfit so that it will match Mya's!  She takes great naps there and eats and plays!

Mya loves to play with toys, especially ones that make noise or music!  She will clap her hands and move her butt around to the music!  She loves books and will look at the pages for quite some time, even if someone isn't reading to her!  She is pretty easy to entertain.

How dull our lives would be without her in them!

Cleaning Up Daddy's Mess

Last night I heard Greg drop Mya's container of Puffs on the kitchen floor.  It didn't take look for our human vacuum cleaner to figure it out and make her way under the table and devour each and every one!  We didn't even need to get the broom out!

Mya was having so much fun under the table that the only way Greg could bribe her to come back out was with a container of baby food!

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

We have a full-length mirror in the hallway that Mya will sometimes bat at.  Tonight she was jabbering away with "the baby" in the mirror.  She was squealing at her, playing "so big," and was even giving kisses.  Super cute!

This past week has been pretty hectic around our house.  I had parent-teacher conferences two of the nights, including one of the nights Greg had to work.  My parents graciously came down, picked Mya up from daycare, and hung out with her until Greg got home.  Mya had lots of fun playing with them!

Chewing on the Desitin in the corner...looks like she's up to no good!

She even got to snuggle up with her Gloworm in Grama's sleeping bag!  Grama decided she HAD to sleep in Mya's room...it might have been a good idea until Mya woke up in the morning and started throwing her pacifiers at Grama!  :)

The Christmas tree has been up for a couple weeks at our house and, knock on wood, Mya hasn't been too interested in it.  Granted, I don't give her much of an opportunity.  She'll play with the kid-friendly ornaments on the bottom for a short bit and then try and yank them off the tree!

Fuzzy Wuzzy

After bath time, Mya rocks a fantastic hair-do!  Of course, it takes a bit of fluffing with the brush, but this one particular night everything just stood straight up!  She looked a bit like a mad scientist or something!  She really does have a good amount of hair now, it's just so hard to see until you get close enough!

A new favorite of Mya's involves rolling up the kitchen rugs.  Don't ask why, but it seems to entertain her.  She'll sit next to it and roll it back and forth.  Strange.

Talk about personality!  This kid has a ton of it!  She is never at a loss for facial expressions...

It was a cold and wet weekend and today felt like a soup day.  Greg made some delicious chicken and wild rice soup.  While we ate, we put Mya in her high chair to occupy her for a little bit.  She's been a little more cranky this weekend because she's been stuffed up, so we attributed it to that.  Nope, she was just tired.  She fell asleep in there at 6:30 p.m. and stayed asleep!  Hopefully she's not up at 4:30 a.m. ready to rock and roll!
