2 Years Old!

Yep, I'm 2!

Today our little girl turns two years old...unreal.

Her personality:  Mya is a little firecracker.  She is independent, imaginative, sassy, cute, talkative, amazing little lady.  Her sweet little voice melts my heart, especially when she says "Wuv you Mommy" or "Wuv you Daddy!"  She is non-stop energy, yet she is very caring.  She is quite gentle and is a good little mommy to her baby dolls.  When we pretend to play night-night, she rubs our backs, pulls the blanket on us, and hums a song...she is very nurturing.  She has a mind of her own, "I do it," is a very regular thing she says.

Favorite things:  playing with stickers, her daycare buddies, coloring, playing with instruments, baby dolls, vacuuming with Mommy, Curious George, Winnie the Pooh, playing in our bed, reading, painting, Play Doh, taking baths, being tickled by Daddy, and washing her hands.

Favorite foods:  Mya is VERY picky, but she will eat hot dogs, Pop Tarts, pineapple, grapes, bananas, strawberries, pizza, grilled cheese sandwiches, crackers, cupcake frosting, chicken nuggets, fries, pancakes, string cheese, and yogurt.

Things she knows:  how to count to 12, her colors (although she sometimes says yellow for white), many songs, and words in some books (memorized, of course!).

Now onto her day...

Today was Mya's 2 year check-up.  She weighed in at 27 lbs. and 2 oz. (57th percentile) and 32.5 inches tall (18th percentile).  I was surprised with her height...I thought she was tall for her age.  Just goes to show what I know!

We had a fun birthday night.  We had a pizza picnic on the carpet.  Well, we did and Mya decided she didn't want pizza but did want a hot dog.  Oh well!  We also watched Monsters Inc.  Then we sang "Happy Birthday" and ate cupcakes.  Mya ate the frosting off of hers and then took Greg's and ate his frosting too.  Then she gave the cupcake (minus frosting) back to Greg and said "Daddy eat cupcake."  :)

The one sure-fire way to get Mya to stop eating cupcake frosting is to mention the word presents.  That's all we had to say and she was ready to open presents!  She opened up a few presents from us and then it was off to bed!  We're looking forward to next week and spending some time in the Dells as part of Mya's birthday present!

Our lives have been filled with such joy since Mya came along!

Classroom Visit

We had parent/teacher conferences a few weeks ago and Greg and Mya came to visit to pass the time.  Mya played with all of my teacher stuff, bean bags, cushions, etc.  We read books, had lunch, and visited with some of my co-workers.

Seeing the two of them surely brightened my day!

Valentine's Day (a.k.a. Puke Day)

Ahhh, yes, love is in the air.  Tis the season for Valentine's Day!  Mya picked out some colorful flowers for Daddy and then claimed them for her own.  They were no longer Daddy's flowers, they were Mya's flowers!

My little Valentine

Then came the fun part of Valentine's Day.  We put Mya down at her normal bedtime and about 10 minutes later we heard the dreaded coughing.  Greg SPRINTED upstairs and, yep, Mya threw up in bed.  She then got sick maybe 5 more times.  It finally ended around 10:30 or so.  She was really snuggly and really tired and slept well through the night...thank goodness!  It is never fun to see your baby not feeling well, but it seems to have been a quick bug and she's on the mend.

And just to show how quickly Mya rebounded, the below photo was taken not long after one of her last vomiting moments...crazy girl!

Finger Paints

Today was an artsy kind of day for me and Mya.  We worked on some Valentine's Day projects in the morning and then we did some finger painting in the afternoon.

Okay, Mya could be considered a neat freak.  She hates having anything on her hands (dirt, fuzz, string, and the list goes on).  I wondered what she would do with the finger paints and, to my amazement, she L.O.V.E.D it!  Mya is a very focused almost 2 year old.  She really concentrates on tasks, like coloring.  Using finger paints was no exception.  We spent nearly 30 minutes finger painting and she would have gone longer, but I was getting bored!  :)

She started out with just one finger in the colors and by the end she used her hands to smush all of the colors together!  It was a fun day with my little girl!

Oh, Saturday, We Love You

It was a cold morning, so we decided to see if Grama and Grampa wanted to join us at the Children's Museum.  Mya got a pass for her birthday and we are super excited to use it!  Guess where we'll be all summer long?  :)

Mya showed Grama and Grampa the ropes, since neither of them have been there before.  She played on the slide, the bridge, and the tree house.  She took Grampa in the tree house because she knew that he'd do it if she asked!

Oh, the grocery store.  Mya particularly likes the phone and cash register.  She had a ball putting items on the belt and moving them on the belt with Grampa.

We visited the kitchen, movie studio, and the climb in digestive system.  Downstairs we played in the water and did some crafts.  It was a wonderful morning!

Then, we had cake for dessert that night.  Correction...Mya had frosting and the rest of us had cake!  Saturdays are nice.

Techno Girl

I brought an iPad home from school last week to play around with.  Guess who also likes it?  We played some matching animal games and I was surprised at what she could do.  Mya always amazes me!  But, if you ask Mya, her favorite app is the coloring app!
