Lunch with Grandma and Grandpa!

Mya and I headed up to Chippewa the other day for a little Grandma and Grandpa Telisak time!  We were treated to La Granders!  Yum, yum root beer!  :)

Grandma Pat was also watching two little kids who had wandered in...no...it's just William and Nadya!  Mya had fun with everyone!  She especially liked hearing William and Nadya's words of wisdom.  Like, did you know that Liam is dating Selena Gomez?  Apparently she dumped Justin Bieber for him.  Nadya and Mya also practiced their dance moves.  I'm pretty sure they're going to be their own two person dance company someday.

Liam, Nadya, and Mya
Apparently Mya's silly face is just a smile...I'm not worried.  I'm sure her silly face will come!
Swinging with Liam and Nod
Why is it that when you need a kid to look at the camera, they never do?
So sweet!

This is the Life! (Part 2)

Well, the second part of our week up at the lake was just as good as the first!  Literally, we were outside for a good chunk of the day!  Mya loves, loves, loves being in the water! I'm pretty sure she thinks she can do just about whatever she wants in the water too!  She loved being in her raft and she loved running in the water.  She fell over a few times and didn't even freak out when her head got wet (like I thought she might do).

Floating with Uncle Noah
Floating with Cameron and Ethan...darn sun is too bright!

Heading out for a ride in the kayak
In the evening, after lake and dinner time, Mya spent most of her time playing with the dollhouse and Mr. Potato Head.  That kept her entertained for a lot longer than I thought it would!  I had fun playing with her and the dollhouse too because I would ask her what sounds some of the dollhouse inhabitants made and she would tell me!  My favorite is asking what sound a baby makes and she'll pretend to wail like a baby!  Of course, it is hit or miss when I ask her these things.  Can you say stubborn?  :)

Cabin life is fun!  Especially when there is a front door overlooking the lake and you can see EVERYTHING that is going on.  Mya also likes being hoisted up into the rafters.

The thing I loved best about the cabin?  Mya's sleeping!  Oh that fresh air tuckered her out and made for a very nice sleep schedule!

Mya's First Date

Mya got to meet Jackson for the first time!  So, go ahead and call it their first date...don't fret their parents were with them the whole time.

We had a lovely time with the Hardt clan!  It was great to see them, as they live in Delaware, and we haven't seen each other since both Nicole and I were pregnant.  Jackson is about 2 weeks older than Mya and I can already tell that they have a lot in common!  They have a love of animals and escaping their parents!

We met up at Irvine Park to check out some of the animals.

Checking out the quails
A little hands-on time
Oooohhh...bunnies!
Playing with the bears.  Mya kept saying, "hot," since the bears were sitting in the sun!

Mya:  It's okay, Jackson, I'll keep you safe.
Jackson:  Get your hands off of me, lady.
The dads with the kids...
...and the moms with the kiddos!
We packed up some goldfish and encouraged Mya to share with Jackson.  She, however, took it a step further...

...by personally feeding Jackson.  Poor guy!

Thanks for meeting up with us, Hardt family!  Hopefully we'll be able to do it again!

This is the Life! (Part 1)

Mya and I spent the week up at Axehandle Lake.  It was filled with sun, swimming, boat rides, jumping on the trampoline and lots of other fun stuff!!
When we went up a few weeks ago, the water was much cooler and Mya wanted nothing to do with going in.  This time was a whole different story!!  Pretty much the second we got there, I dangled her toes in the water and that was it.  She was hooked!  She went for her first swim of the season in the lake with her clothes on!!!  I did finally convince her to get a swimmer diaper and swimsuit on because her water-logged diaper made her a little tipsy!  ;)

We were just pulling her by hand, but she thought it was pretty awesome!
Mya discovered the fish in the lake.  She liked feeding them bread, but she especially liked seeing them up close and personal!  Every time she saw a fish, she would say, "Hiiiiiiiiieeeeeeee!"  So, we heard it a lot!  It kept her entertained, in any case!

Speaking of fish, that's kind of what Mya has turned into!  She loves the water and has absolutely no fear of it.  Good, right?  Ehh, not so much.  The kid just runs to it...I think I need to invest in a kid leash!  And since she likes to be soooooo independent, she doesn't want anyone holding her hand on the dock.  Is there a way to put a baby gate around the dock???

With Grama Shelli
With Cousin Cassie
Momma and Mya!

Of course we had to bounce on the trampoline a few dozen times!  It's a good thing Cassie likes to bounce because I can only take so much!

Every afternoon after nap time I get Mya suited up and we spend a couple hours in the lake.  She loves floating and taking it all in.

Yeah, like it's such hard work!
I've also realized that Mya has a need for speed.  She wanted to be the one in charge of driving the boat.  While Cassie was skiing, Mya even tried pushing the throttle down to make the boat go faster!  Oh, and she likes horns.  Lisa graciously taught her how to push the horn button.  It's loud.

Getting ready to head out on the boat!

We should probably enroll her in a boater's safety course real soon!

And after a hard day of playing in the sand and water, every girl needs a set of body soap paints to wash up with!

We're Moved In!

As the title of this blog post says, we're moved in!  I hate moving and all of the work that goes into it.  However, it was okay this time knowing that we were moving back to Eau Claire!  Anyway, the house looks great and Mya doesn't seem to have noticed that we are living in a new house!
My favorite part of the house is the front living room.  On one side we have chairs and a tv and on the other is a play area for Mya.  I'm pretty sure it's her favorite part too!
It's nice because all of her toys are confined (sort of) to one area.

Trajan stopped by for a visit to do some handyman work...Mya had an important phone call to take so she couldn't help much.

Mya has always been interested in books, but within the last few weeks, she's become obsessed with them.  Sometimes she likes to look at them herself, but mostly she loves being read to.  It's funny how at even 16 months old, Mya has "favorite" books!  Some of them are getting a worn look because we read them to her so frequently!  Her current favorites are Goodnight Moon and Moo, Baa, La La La.  The teacher in me is very excited about it!  The only way we can read books is with her perched in my lap.  She helps to turn the pages and many times rests her hands on mine and guides my hand as I point to pictures.  Best time of the day is reading time!

Mya is starting to get into the Little People toys now.  She'll take them out and have me tell each name of the animal and sound they make.  Then she'll zoom them along in their car!

She found some Mr. Potato Head pieces and became infatuated with the glasses...then the phone rang.  Why is it that when then I'm talking to someone on the real phone, she doesn't make a peep...just smiles.  And then on her play phone she jabbers away nonstop???
