We Heart Naptime!

Mya took a 2+ hour nap yesterday and woke up like this. Her after-nap smiles just melt my heart!! Wouldn't it be nice if everyone in the world could wake up this happy?

Mother's Day Weekend

Well, this year marked my very first Mother's Day! I am so lucky to have Mya in my life and to be the reason why I get to celebrate this day. I am so lucky to have my mom too. She is my inspiration and my role model. I don't know where I'd be in my life without her. I love you, Mom!!

Mya and Greg even had a special gift for me. They gave me a beautiful pair of amethyst earrings and necklace. (Amethyst happens to be Mya's birthstone). I didn't think Greg would forget, but I never give him enough credit! The necklace and earrings are beautiful and I will always treasure them from my first Mother's Day!

Greg had to work this weekend and so Mya and I decided to head up to Eau Claire to spend Mother's Day with a bunch of great moms! On Saturday we met up with my Auntie Beck. She got in some good snuggle time first and then we headed to Kohls. Why is it that Mya always ends up coming out ahead of the clothing game whenever we head there? It was so nice to spend time with my very special Auntie Beck. I know that Mya will think of her as being as extra special too!

We also made a stop to visit Grandma Pat. Grandma Pat is making Mya's baptismal gown and needed to size her up. Mya also gave Grandma her Mother's Day gift, a large wooden daisy that can be put outside in her garden.

Mya gave Grandma Shelli an activity mat that she can keep at her house! Mya and Grandma tried it out right away and Mya loved it! She coos and kicks and we can really tell that she loves it!

On Mother's Day, my brother, Noah, came by and cooked up a special dinner. He is a master chef! And even though I tend to be a picky eater, I thought it was delicious!!!

This is probably my favorite picture from the weekend. Whenever we go somewhere, we put a blanket on Mya in her carrier. Lately, she's been grabbing the blanket and pulling it closer to her face so she can nuzzle it. When we got back from running somewhere, this is how Mya looked. Her blue eyes just make the picture!!

Mya's Tree

On Earth Day, Greg ordered up a tree to plant. He said it was in honor of the year Mya was born and it was for her...how sweet! Today it was delivered and it looks great! This fall it will produce some beautiful colors for us to look at!
Greg was so sweet to say that this tree is in honor of Mya. Then today he made some comment about this tree will now erase her carbon footprints. He also said that because we had Mya and helped to overpopulate the earth, planting the tree helps off-set the overpopulation thing. So very typical of Greg to say!

Root-a-toot-tootin' good time!

On the previous blog post I wrote about Mya being so smiley...case and point right here. I put her down for her famous 30 minute cat nap and heard her starting to stir. I took the camera into her room to see if I couldn't catch a quick smile while in her crib. Well, I started saying her name, she looked over at me, let out one loooong toot, and smiled at me! Snap goes the camera! Was it gas or was it me that made her smile? :)

Miles of Smiles!

Mya is one smiley baby! At first it was a lot of the smiling in her sleep or if she was gassy. But lately it is all the time! She smiles when we talk to her, when she plays with her toys, when she is tickled, if you stick your tongue out at her or cluck your tongue. It's so much fun to interact with her!! My favorite smiles tend to be when she is pouty and sticks out her lip and then someone picks her up and she gets this devilish smile on her face. Yep, she knows what she's doing! Gosh, they sure do start young!

Mya Meets Anya!

Last week Mya and I met up with my very dear friend, Sara, and her daughter, Anya. Anya is exactly 2 weeks older than Mya. This is the first time we've been able to meet up since my baby shower in January! We had lunch at Olive Garden. I was nervous because it never fails that if Mya is sleeping and food is being had, she'll wake up. Seriously, it never fails! Well, this time she proved me wrong and slept through lunch. However, when I picked up Anya, her eyes popped wide open! How do kids know sense these things, like when mom holds another baby? And the funniest thing was that the waitress asked if the girls were twins...ummm...no! Sara and I were mistaken for twins countless times in high school. It's nice to see some traditions living on!!

After lunch we headed back to my parents house to take some pictures and chat. I had such a fun time!

Sara and I have been friends since the 6th grade! I'm so thankful that we've stayed close. It seems like we can always just pick up where we left off! And now I'm thankful that we have our girls who will hopefully be just as good as friends as their moms!!

Impromptu Photo Shoot!

On Friday my mom, Mya, and I made a quick run to Target. As we were checking out, the photo lady came up to us with a tutu. She asked if I had a little girl and if we wouldn't mind getting her pictures taken to try out the new tutu prop. Of course I said yes! I was thrilled with how the pictures turned out and ended up ordering a bunch of them! It totally wasn't the plan to get Mya's pictures taken again until she was 6 months old, but I couldn't turn it down! (Not to mention we got some free pictures and didn't have to pay for the sitting fee out of the deal!) My absolute favorite photo is the very last one. Although I'm not a fan of headbands, Mya looks super duper adorable!!!
